August 2, 2008

Hahaha. Fail.

Oh goodness guys.

I’m so horrible at updating this…

Hm let’s start with a couple things.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG…it’s been over ONE YEAR since I started wizard rock. June 6th was my one year. =]

And seriously…I have so many people to thank. I first of all, have to thank my parents. They’ve been so supportive of this project of mine, even though they don’t quite understand it. lol. Also…for my mom (who, last November, was dubbed a Wrockin’ Mom by the Chocolate Frogs) for coming to my first two shows with me. =]

I also have to thank all the bands I’ve ever played shows with…but I don’t think I can list them all. lol. You guys have seriously made this one of the best years of my life.

Last, but certainly not least…I have to thank everyone who’s ever busted my ass to make me get something done. Everyone who pushed me to start booking shows, everyone who pushed me to get “I Understand” done, everyone who pushed me to finish “In Greenhouse Three”, and everyone who is pushing me to start me next cd….seriously. Where would I be wthout you guys? I’d be one poor excuse for a wizard rocker, thats where I’d be. So seriously. Thank you everyone. Here’s to hoping this next year is as awesome as the last. =]

Now. On to all the news I’ve been not posting here.

News piece number one- “In Greenhouse Three”, my first CD, is going to be on Itunes in Septemeber! I’m pretty excited for this. From now on, you will only be able to purchase hard copies at shows, as I really hate post offices. (for good reason.) I will probably (maybe.) post something on here when the cd is up. =]

News piece number two- I am working on my second wizard rock CD, titled “We Sing, We Dance, We Chomp Things” is going to….epic. I’m working so much harder on this CD than my last one, and I’m also going to having my own recording space soon (moving into a new house in three weeeeeks!), so needless to say, I am very, very, very, very excited to put this CD out. It won’t be ready until next year, probably feburary…but it will be going to Itunes as soon as I can send it off, so I’m not really sure what the release date is yet.

I do, however have a tentitave tracklisting for it:

1. All Is Well
2. Well, I Probably Forgot The Words To This Song, Anyway
3. Just Don’t Ask
4. I’m Not Pissy, It’s Just My Turn To Wear The Horcrux
5. The Hogwarts Express Hit My Car
6. For The Greater Good (revamped)
7. Epic Song Of Arguing (probably not real name. lol. collab with Apparation Nation)
8. tba (hopefully a collab with one of my favoritest people!)
9.tba
10. tba (probably a song about Cabby and how awesome he is)
11. tba
12. The Cabbage Dance (LIVE!)

Like I said. Super excited.

News piece number three- This past weekend, I went on a epic road trip with Lena of the Butterbeer Experience. It was basically my subsitute Terminus. We went to Montreal, and performed in the Wrock Montreal concert with Tonks and the Aurors, Swish and Flick (who I am now a HUGE fan of), and witnessed Dobby Kills Hedwig’s first performance, and they were amazing. I have a couple videos of my set, so I thought I’d share them with you.

Yeah. that’s me….rapping….

Cabby was also keeping up with the HPA. =]

After hanging out with Dobby Kills Hedwig in Montreal the day after the concert, Lena and I headed down to NYC for the Sidewalk Cafe show and wrocked out to Matt, Alex, Justin and the Mudbloods…and let me tell you….it was TOTALLY worth the extra ten hour drive. =]

News piece number four- I started writing (for lack of a better word) “muggle” music. My goal is to have a CD written and recorded by December 6th (which is my 20th b-day, too). My CD is called “Waiting for the Crash and I have a tentative tracklisting for this CD, as well.

1. Crash and Burn
2. Clear My Head
3. Better Think Twice
4. Inside
5. Eight Months
6. These Eyes
7. Trainwreck
8. His Favorite Part
9. tba
10. tba

I’m really excited for this CD, because it’s causing me to take a step outside my comfort zome and write about my life. You guys have really been so amazingly supportive of my wrock stuff, so I would be greatly appreciative of you’d take the tiem and listen to whats up on my oter music page, and maybe let me know what you think. here’s some linkage for you: http://www.myspace.com/alliehiggins

news piece number five- TOURTOURTOUR!

YESSSSS I am offically going on tour next spring/summer-ish. My tour is going to be abour three weeks long, hitting places like (hopefully):

-Rochester/Buffalo
-Pittsburgh
-Philly
-Toronto
-Montreal
-Columbus/Cincinnati
-Omaha
-Lexington (KY)
-Cleveland
-Orlando
-West Virigina
-Kansas City
-Des Moines

My best friend in the whole wide world, Maggie, is coming along with me as my merch person. Seriously, if you live in these cities and you have an idea for a place for me to play, let me know ASAP. If you are a wizard rock band and you would either like to play a show on the tour, or maybe even tag along for the whole thing…let me know! I’d LOVE to have some more people along, the more the merrier. =]

new piece number sixth- it is with a sad heart that i say…i will not be at wrock chicago or terminus. way to many things going on here, plus i’m kinda broke….so make sure you wrock out extra hard for me. =]

If you read this whole thing, you’re amazing. And….if you kept checking this site, hoping I had updated but you soon realized that I was a space cadet, then go get yourself a cookie. you deserve it.

I will leave you with one last video.

Goodness. I love wizard rock.

Wow.

AHHHH!

So. I’ve been back from tour for about a week now.

It was AMAZING! I can’t even…it….wow. I’m updating the myspace and the site, adding videos  and pictures of the performances. While in Pittsburgh, Steph was interviewed by the Pittburgh Tribune, and then a photographer came and took pictures of us performing, it was awesome. Here’s the link: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/search/s_555311.html

Seriously. Thanks to everyone- The Lexington Library, The Orange County Public Library, Mandala of Witherwings for performing with us and letting us crash at her house, And for Fred Lives and House of Black, for perfomring with us and for the awesome dinner at Denny’s- the was a blast!..And to Sarah, for letting us crash at her house and turn her living room into a wizard rock ballroom (hehe)…and Snidget for being awesome as usual, and The Morgantown Public Library and The Grey Ladies, for making that a fun performance (and for that awesome coffeeshop!), and Karen at the Pittsburgh Public Library, for doing an AWESOME job of promoing the concert (and for hooking me up with an awesome book!), and of course, Ellen at the Henrietta Public LIbrary, and the boys of the Chocolate Frogs. =]

In oooother news. I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the WotB CDs not being recieved. So…I called my post office and asked what was up. They said that they were shipped to the post office in Columbus where all our mail goes through. However, the COlumbus post office has no record of recieving or shipping them. So somewhere along the way, my CDs got lost. I have no idea what happened with that, and I’m unbelieveably pissed about it. So, tomorrow, I am driving to Columbus to the post office to try sending all the CDs again (yes. I made all new CDs for this. Ugh.) You have no idea how bad I feel about this though, I really truly am sorry. I promise you, I’m not ripping you off.

SO, if you don’t have your CD by next Monday, definitely let me know, so I can go kick some post office butt.

In summary- tour rocks, post offices suck.

I’m horrible at this. lol.

Heyyyy lovers.

So. I’m really bad at updating this thing. I will try to be better about it. I promise. lol

Sooo. Let’s get started with the updates, shall we?

1) Tour- GAHHH. 10 days until Tonks and the Aurors and I hit the open road. That’s right. Check out the shows page or my myspace page to see dates, times and places. I’m practicing like crazy, I will be using both backup tracks and my keyboard. I’d love to meet all of you, so head down to show, dance, love Harry Potter, and play Apples to Apples. =]

2) Summer plans.- They’ve deepened. Today, I accepted an invitation from a Montreal area Harry Potter group to come play a huge concert they’re hosting. The Parselmouths, The Butterbeer Experience, and Tonks and the Aurors are just some of the bands on the lineup. I’m very, very excited to return to Canada, and I’ve always wanted to see Montreal. This is going to be an awesome show, so definitely watch for updates. As of right now, the tentitive date is July 25. =]

3) CDs- Gahh. I know. People are starting to hate me. But here’s the dealio- my car broke and I couldn’t afford to send the rest of them out last week. Sorry. Buuut I get paid from both of my jobs on Friday, so the rest of the CDs will be mailed that day. So please, be a little more patient with me?

4. MILESTONES!!!- This past week, I hit 10,000 plays, reached over 400 friends, and over 13,000 page views. Annnd. Wednesday is nine months wrocking! Everyday…I’m more and more amazed with this fandom. You guys are simply amazing.

5- New project- I will like to officially announce the start of my non-wizard rock music project. I still don’t have a name for it yet, so if you have any ideas, contact me ASAP. But within the next few weeks, I am going to launch a new music myspace, and my first non-wrock songs ever, “Crash and Burn.” Seeing as how supportive you guys have been, I’d really appreciate if you’d watch for updates on that…and maybe listen to it when I set up the page and give me your thoughts on it.

6. Uhh. I don’t really have a sixth point.

7. Buuut I do have a seventh! As you all know, the Wizrocklopedia is doing their People’s Choice Awards. It would mean a lot for me if you’d vote for “I Understand” as best collab. The Department of Rock and I spent alooooot of time on this song, and having it awarded Best Collab would probably be the best thing ever. =]

I believe that’s it.

Blah. Updates.

First off, just wanted to say… “Merry Christmas!”

I also wanted to let you know that I am going back to Nebraska to visit my friends for New Years. I will be without a computer Dec. 29th-Jan. 3th.  So if you emssage me, request friendship…or try contacting me in anyway, I won’t respond until I get back. I promise you, I’m not ignoring you or blowing you off.

I also wanted to let everyone know about the awesomeness that is my duet with Rif from the Departmen of Rock. “I Understand” is finally a duet!! It’s up on both or pages, s go listen!

I also wanted to say that after many suggestions, Lena from the Butterbeer Experience and I have agreed to start writing a duet. We have no idea what it’s going to be about yet…lol. But we are going to get one written eventually. =]

And here’s a WotB update- The CDs aren’t going be in until the 2nd of Jan…and I will be out of town when they do get in. So they will be shipped the 5th/6th of Jan. Sorry about the delay, but they will be there. We raised 312 dollars! Go us!

Hm…I think that was it.

Year Of Awesomeness

I’m closing down 2007 with some freaking awesome plans for next year.

So, for me, I’m going to refer to 2008 as “The Year Of Awesomeness”

I thought I’d give you an overview for what next year is going to hold for me and Cabby.=]

Cabby and I will be kicking off 2008 with a show in Pittsburgh on Jan. 15th. This is going to be an awesome show for many reasons. Like, the other bands that are playing- The Butterbeer Experience, The Chocolate Frogs, and The Prefects. I will also be doing a completley new set there, with both backtracks and my keyboard. That’s right, I’m going to prove to the wizard rock world that I do, in fact, play an instrument. I’ve also gotten an email about playing show in Columbus, OH on Jan. 25th. That would be my first show in the state I actually live in, so I’m really looking forward to that. I will also be on two different podcasts next month, so watch for that. =]

“In Greenhouse Three”, the first full length CD, comes out during January too!!!

Febuary shows no signs of slowing down either. During the first week, I’m going on an awesome wizard rock trip with Lena from the Butterbeer Experience, and am quite looking forward to that adventure. I’m also going on tour with Tonks and the Aurors…and this tour is going to be epic. I can’t even begin to tell you everything I have planned for my set. We’re hitting towns like Lexington KY, Orlando FL, and Rochester NY. Head over to www.myspace.com/cccabbages to checkout the dates. We also have a couple days open on that tour, so if you have venue ideas around those cities let me know!

The only thing I really have planned for the month of March is the freaking sweet “Wizard Rock PJ Party!” That’s right, a whole bunch of wizard rock bands are going to wrock out in their PJs! (I personally plan on buying some footie PJS for this concert!) We’re also going to have the most epic wizard rock pillow fight ever at the end of the concert. That’s going to be March 15th, probably somewhere in Ohio. The tentitive bands for the show are: The Chocolate Frogs, The Butterbeer Experience, Snigdet, and Tonks and the Aurors. Watch for more news on that!

The only things for April are: a birthday party for one of my friend’s daughter, and *possibly* making up for cancelling the Ann Arbor show. No real details on that, but I’m trying. (Cause I owe Cierra a show. lol)

Nothing for May- except attending WROCKSTOCK!

The month of June, I will playing my first BIG wizard rock event. I will playing Magus 2008, which has some awesome bands on the line up, such as Tonks and the Aurors, The Grey Ladies, and Justin Finch-Fletchley and The Sugar Quills. I’m so psyched to play this show. =]

As of right now, I have absolutely nothing planned for the month of July. I think….I actually don’t really remember….

August, however….is going to be a crazy month. Along with starting school, I’ll be attending Terminus. I got asked to serve on a panel with a couple other wrockers to discuss the different aspects of wizard rock. Terminus is going to be one of the most epic moments of wizard rock, so you really don’t want to miss out on attending it. I believe I also have a few shows scheduled- One Magic Night, happening in California (That’s right. First west coast show), and a couple other shows that are still “maybe’s” right now.

That really all I have planned show wise for next year. I’ve already begun writing new songs (even though my CD isn’t done yet….it’s a cronic problems I have. Songwritingitis), so and EP might be coming out late next year.

Anyways. That’s going to be my “Year Of Awesomeness” =]

I’m so looking forward to it!

Allie.
